it's friday

Update on that last post - We left the house when there were just a couple of minutes left in the game and BYU was up 10 points. When we got to the party there were only 3 people there. Two of them were the bishop and his wife. And they had the game pulled up on their laptop. Once the game ended everyone else came. We had 12 people in all and we had a great time playing badminton. Best part - Zach stinks at badminton. And I don't. I didn't know either of those things before last night.

The cake - after trying to give away as much as possible. "Thanks for babysitting! Can I pay you in cake?"
I've been wanting to make a cake like this for a while. I don't know if it was worth it (it took 4 hours!). But at least I can say I did it now. And should I ever want to make one again, I know what to do and what to change. For instance, if a cake is green, it should probably taste green. I think it could have used a little bit of a lemony-lime type flavor. That would have been nice.

And now it's not even 10:30 in the morning and me and the boys have each had a piece. Gross. But that's what Fridays are for, right? No, it's just gross.

And now, something to make you smile through the weekend. A video that I watch all the time that reminds me that summertime is just a little ways away. This is my family:

(favorite parts: having to wipe the fog off the lens because of the humidity, Taya getting goosed, Mom suggesting that Ben should be the next American Idol, and Christian's feet through the whole movie (he's on the guitar). and sorry for the kiddos running around in their underwear - we were at the beach!)

Oh, I bet some lime/lemon would've tasted festive, but it looks yummy either way! :) Cake for breakfast sounds great to me.
And if you did it next year, maybe get some green gummy bears to put on top. Or some Lucky Charms marshmallows on top.

This post just makes me want to blogstalk you even more. PS. Zealand loves Neil Diamond or "Neiman Diamond" as he is known in our house so we sing it everyday.
